Kathleen Elizabeth Kramel, age 83, of Boonville, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at The University of Missouri Hospital.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at First Baptist Church of New Franklin, with a Funeral Service at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the church. Interment will follow at Peninsula Cemetery in Blackwater.
Kathy was born in New Franklin on March 7, 1941, the daughter of Clarence and Cora (Kaiser) Thompson.
Kathy graduated from New Franklin High School in 1959. She began her career as a beautician before she met and married the love of her life, Emil Kramel, who survives. They were married just a few months shy of 55 years at the time of her passing.
After having children, she worked as a seamstress for Artex, a division of Jostens Sportswear. After it closed, she was the Director of the Santa Fe Trails Daycare where she retired from.
Kathy was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Franklin. She loved crafts and was skilled in sewing, knitting, crochet, cooking and baking. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t make or fix with a sewing machine. She also did volunteer work at her church and the Boonslick Senior Center. Kathy had a heart of gold. She was the most loving, caring lady; always putting others first, loved helping others, and was there for anyone, anytime they needed her. Her greatest blessings were her family. And she was theirs.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Cora Thompson; brother, Bill Thompson and his wife Kate and brother, Paul Thompson
Along with her husband Emil Kramel of Boonville, she is also survived by her children: Karen Kramel-Kammerich (Wayne) of Columbia; Jeffrey Kramel (Dianna) of Wildwood; grandson: Banyan Kramel; siblings: Barbara Mann (Rylan) of Williamsburg, Don Thompson (Martha) of St. Charles, Kerry Thompson (Sue) of New Franklin; sister-in-law Carol Thompson; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and loving friends.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Boonslick Senior Center, First Baptist Church of New Franklin, or Peninsula Cemetery.
