Charles P. Malone, 96, of Boonville passed away Tuesday evening October 9, 2018 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, MO.
Visitation for Charles will be 11 to Noon Saturday, October 13 at Christ Episcopal Church, with a celebration of life to follow at Noon with Rev. Kim Taube officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Charles Perry Malone was born June 18, 1922 in Boonville, MO., the son of Milton Kelly Towson and Zada Adalaid Malone. Charles served his country in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 during WWII. He graduated Boonville High School, attended Marshall University, Central Methodist College and graduated from the University of Missouri Columbia. He married Gertrude Louise Schmidt on March 1, 1953, who passed away February 23, 2000. Charles was a Certified public Accountant and practiced for over 30 years, he retired on May 31, 2002.
Charles was past president of the Boonville Lions Club, Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce, president and treasurer of Walnut Grove Cemetery Association, a local director of the United Missouri Bank of Boonville, local trustee and controller for Kemper Military School and College from 1995 to 2002. He was a lifelong member of the Christ Episcopal Church and served as a lay reader and treasurer. He was a member of the 75th Infantry Division Veterans Association and Cooper Lodge NO. 36 and the Boonslick Shrine Club.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Gertrude. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Elizabeth LaBantschnig and husband Denny of Rolla, MO., Grandsons, Charles Michael Smith and wife Jessica of Ottawa Hills, OH., Kevin Randolph Smith and wife Melanie of Neosho, MO. He will be dearly missed by his great- grandchildren, Gabe, Maddox, Anna-Cate Smith and Hailey and Owen Smith.
