Donald Eugene Harris

Donald E. Harris, 82, of Boonville passed away Wednesday morning January 17, 2018 peacefully at Ashley Manor Care Center.

Visitation for Don will be Friday, January 19, 2018 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Howard Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11a.m. at Howard Funeral Home with burial to follow at Old Lamine Cemetery.

Donald Eugene Harris was born August 7, 1935 in California, Missouri the son of Thomas A. and Louise Kirchner Harris. He was raised on the family farm in Lamine. He graduated from Boonville High School in 1953 and was awarded the Future Farmers of America State Farmer Degree. He married Edna E. Gerlt on June 3, 1962 at the Prairie Home Baptist Church. For most of his life, he worked for Meadow Gold Dairy, MFA Oil, and NAPA Auto Parts. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of his life. Watching them grow and being part of their lives was what he enjoyed the most.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Louise. He is survived by his wife, Edna, of the home, sons, David (Janie) Harris of Kansas City, MO, Darrell (Nancy) Harris of Boonville MO, and Steve (Sandra) Harris of Scottsdale, AZ, grandchildren Whitney (Devon) Hohensee, Lindsey Harris, Bryce Harris, and Steven Harris Jr., great grandchildren Brody and Fallon Hohensee. Also surviving is a brother Chuck (Carol) Harris of Boonville, two nieces, and one nephew.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Pantry or Food Bank of Central & Northeast Missouri - Cooper County Buddy Pack Program in memory of Donald Harris.
