George Carl Derendinger was born August 16, 1926 in Boonville, MO., the son of John Fritz Derendinger and Augusta Haxell Derendinger. George was a 1944 Boonville High School graduate who served his country in the Army during WWII. He married Elaine May Rassmussen on December 28, 1946 in Lone Elm, MO. He and Elaine purchased Cedar Grove in 1965, the home in which he lived until his death. George and Elaine, with help from their son, Michael, lovingly restored the home, where George loved to keep his yard and tend a large vegetable garden every year. Family was very important to George and he was proud of kids and grandkids, and their accomplishments. He was a good provider and father and he never did anything half-way. In 1972, George and Elaine, along with their son, Daniel, opened Derendinger Furniture in Boonville, which is still in operation at the original location.
George was preceded in death by his parents, John and Augusta; wife Elaine on May 14, 2012; daughter Christy Solomon; and brothers Fred, Ernest, and Edgar Derendinger. He is survived by his children, Michael Lee Derendinger (Sharon) of Holts Summit, MO., Daniel George Derendinger (Debi) of Boonville, MO., Melody Jo Derendinger (Garry Francis) of Boonville, MO., Shelly Lynn Riehn (Mike) of Cassville, MO., son-in-law Steve Solomon of Boonville, MO., and brother Charlie Derendinger of Lone Elm, MO.
