Hazel E. Stone, 84, of Boonville passed away May 1, 2018 at Riverdell Care Center surrounded by her family.
Visitation for Hazel will be 1 to 3 P.M. Sunday, May 6 at Santa Fe Trail Baptist Church, Boonville, MO. A Celebration of Life Service will follow the visitation at 3 P.M. with Rev. Ken Tounzen officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Hazel Evelyn Stone was born in Ionia, MO. on October 18, 1933 the daughter of Paul Mark Rothenberger and Irma Ida Westphal Rothenberger. She married Harry Stone on June 12, 1952 in Sedalia, MO. Hazel loved to sing and play piano, piano being a talent that was self-taught. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles and knit. Hazel was well known as the “biscuit lady” at the local Hardees in Boonville. Some folks wouldn’t stop and eat unless they saw her car parked there. Members of the community also remember Hazel and family as the owners of Stone’s Drive-In and Paradise Donuts. Hazel was a faithful member of the Santa Fe Trail Baptist Church and was one of the founders of the Food Pantry. Most of all, family mattered the most to Hazel and she loved spending time with them whenever possible.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Jackwlyn Fangman, grandchildren: Timothy and Jesse Paul Fangman, and siblings: Leslie, Lee and Marvin Rothenberger, Viola Young and Gladys Miller. She is survived by her husband Harry of the home, daughter, Jonet (Alton) Lewis of Boonville, MO., brother, Dale Rothenberger of Galt, CA., sisters, Pauline Wilson of California, MO., and Wanda Logan of Cole Camp, MO. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, David (Kristi) Stephens, III, Shawna (Nelson) Burnett, James Lewis, and Jackie (Zack) Lewis. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Stephen Lewis, Lauren (Eric) Straatman, Shelby Stephens, Jordan Lewis, Hunter Stephens, Julia Lewis and Gunner Lewis.
