James W Ripperger, 85, of Boonville, passed away on Friday June 29, 2018, at the Truman VA Hospital, Columbia.
He was born September 30, 1933, in Stover, the son of Albert, from Lacona, Iowa, and Bertha (Bowers) Ripperger from Versailles.
Jim was a US Navy veteran having served during the Korean War after graduating from Boonville High School in 1951. After an honorable discharge in 1954, Jim worked for McDonald Douglas Aircraft until he started his passion of real estate sales and development. He developed neighborhoods all across mid Missouri having completed over seven hundred houses. Later, he took his passion for real estate to work for GTE Telephone buying easements all across the United States. And finally, a man who refused to retire, Jim got into the storage business where he finished the construction of his fourth facility just weeks before his death.
An active member of the American Legion and the 40/8, James held several offices including Commander of the Boonville chapter. James was a true patriot and was proud to have served in the armed forces and later volunteering with veteran organizations.
Survivors include his daughter Kathy Hollaway, two grandchildren Chris Hollaway, and Amanda Dudenhoeffer, three great grandchildren Bryson and Adisen Dudenhoeffer, and Adin Hollaway. Siblings include Robert Ripperger, Sylvia Ripperger, Cleta Sylvey, and Melvin Ripperger.
Visitation will be held on Thursday July 5th, 2018 at Howard Funeral Home in Boonville from 12:30 to 1:30 with services to begin immediately after. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery with full military honors.
