Raymond L. “Ray J” Johnston, 60, of Boonville passed away Sunday evening August 12, 2018 from injuries he sustained in the accident.
Celebration of life visitation will be Friday evening August 17 at Howard Funeral Home from 5 to 8 P.M. with full military honors to conclude the visitation at 8 P.M.
Raymond Lee Johnston was born December 9, 1957 in Boonville, MO., the son of James R. Johnston and Bessie Marie Chenault Johnston. Ray was raised by his step-mother, Sylvia Dean Rentschler. He was a graduate of Boonville High School. Ray served his country for 23 years having taking part in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He married Karen Hibbard in June of 2011. Ray loved the outdoors, as he loved to hunt and fish. Ray loved riding his motorcycle in the local Eagles Arie# 1022 poker runs and was proud to be a member of the Eagles. Ray worked for bakery (Interstate Brands) here in Boonville for over 20 years and was working for the Cooper County Road and Bridge Department for over six years as a heavy equipment operator. Ray would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it and was always there to lend a hand to anyone, he never met a stranger.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, James, Bessie and Dean. He is survived by his wife Karen of the home, sons; Brandon Lee Johnston and Michael James Johnston both of Boonville, MO., and Ryan Iadanza of Sioux City, IA. Also surviving are his siblings, Shirley Johnston of Sedalia, MO., and Tammy Brandes (Gary) of Boonville, MO. and Doug Johnston of Boonville, MO. He will be dearly missed by his granddaughter, Cheyenne and his nieces and nephews, Deanamarie Naylor, Jared Johnston, Kayla Johnston, Nathan Brandes and Jimmy Brandes.
