Alice Mae Wolfe Hatcher, 98, of Boonville went to be with her savior on Friday April 14, 2023.
A lifelong resident of Cooper County, Alice was born to her parents Frank and Wilmoth Odom as the first of their three children. She was joined by two siblings, sister Elenor and brother Ronnie. As a youngster she helped her parents with gardening and farm chores while completing her formal education at Highland School. After school, she continued to help on the farm and worked in town. In 1942 Alice married her sweetheart J.W. Wolfe. He then departed for military service in World War II and was stationed in North Africa and Italy for the next three years. Born to this union were a daughter and a son. Alice and J.W. enjoyed 26 years together before his death in 1969. Some years later Alice met and married Robert Lee (Bob) Hatcher, they made their home in Boonville. He preceded her in death in 1993. Alice was employed as a beautician in the Boonville area for 50 years. She was an excellent cook, well known for her wonderful pies enjoyed by family and friends over the years. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, growing and tending flowers, feeding and watching birds, sewing and quilting. Alice was an active member of Riverside Christian Church and participated in weekly Sunday School and Church services as well as the Life After Fifty (LAF) Bible Study group and the nursing home ministry.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, brother, grandson Jeremy Wolfe, and step- son Rod Hatcher. She is survived by her sister Elenor Pender of North Carolina, daughter Pat Banks of Boonville, her daughter Bethany (Charles) Lacy of Athens, TN, their children Alyssa and Madison Lacy; her daughter Stephanie (Jason) Lampkins of Hallsville, MO, their children Brayden Stenger, Ayden and Cadleigh Lampkins; her son Patrick (Angel) Stenger, their daughter Abigail Stenger; son Jerry (Judy) Wolfe of Boonville, their son John “Jay” Wolfe (Donna), his children Kelsey (Jeffrey) Curry, their children Jackson and Nolan; Roman and Jack Wolfe, daughter Sarah (Vernon) Gerling, their children Bryant Frost (Heather); their daughter Brookllyn; Lana Gerling (Austin), and Jarod Gerling. She also leaves behind stepchildren Brad (Debbie) Hatcher and Karen Hatcher (Russ) of Kansas.
Visitation for Alice will be held at Riverside Christian Church Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. David Mackey officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
