Arlene (Merrell) Williams

Arlene (Merrell) Williams, 71 of Columbia passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at University of Missouri in Columbia.

Per Arlene’s request there will be no services held.

Arlene Merrell was born October 17, 1950, the daughter of John and Sophia (Schnuck) Merrell. Arlene was a pediatric nurse, she began her career at a hospital in Chicago, IL. After moving to Missouri, she taught the RN program at MAJC for five years. Arlene then moved to Columbia, MO where she began work at the University of Missouri in Pediatrics. Arlene also received her MSN in nursing while there. Arlene retired from the university in 2010. Followed by her retirement, Arlene met Carl and they married July 25, 2009. She spent the rest of her 50-year nursing career as an instructor at Columbia College and the Columbia Career Center. Arlene loved working with children because of love of laughter and joyfulness. She also loved to travel, she had friends of 53 years in Chicago that she traveled many places with. Arlene’s loving, joyful personality will be forever missed.

Arlene is preceded in death by her parents and stepdaughter Ellen Williams. She is survived by her husband Carl Williams of the home, stepson Walter (Lisa) Williams of Center Town and Carl Williams Jr. of San Diego, CA and sister Sarah Merrell of Columbia.
