Bernadine Ordell Wassmann was born in Boonville, Missouri, on February 15, 1921, the daughter of Albert Rasmussen and Birdie Brickner Rasmussen. She married August Wassmann on April 20, 1948. They were married 50 years until his death in 1998.
Bernadine was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Billingsville. She worked for many years at factories and grocery stores in the area. In her retirement she enjoyed making hand stitched quilts that were beautiful pieces of art and a labor of love for family members and friends. She also made one each year for nearly 40 years for her church’s annual Harvest Festival auction. Her quilt was always the highlight of the event each year. More than anything she loved spending time with her family.
Bernadine is survived by her son George “Eddie” (Linda) Wassmann, daughters Brenda (Ronnie) Hodges and Darlene (Steve) Kraus. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband August Wassmann, and sister Dorsey Frieling.
Memorials are suggested to the St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery.
