Betty J. Jaeger, 96, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away at Ignite Medical Resort St. Mary’s in Blue Springs on Sunday, September 19, 2021.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Jaeger will be held at Howard Funeral Home, Boonville, MO at 11:30 AM on Monday, September 27, 2021 with Tim Fairley officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, from 10:30 until the time of service. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Betty Jaeger was born in Pisgah, MO on February 13, 1925, the daughter of Porter Hurt Sr. and Lela Hurt. She attended schools in Prairie Home, MO and subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Central Missouri State College. Betty married Kenneth Jaeger on June 15, 1947 at the Pisgah Baptist Church.
Betty’s passion was teaching children and she did so for 37 years. She began teaching all grades in a one room school house and later in elementary grades in Boonville & Mexico, MO. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and cooking and she LOVED spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Jaeger was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Porter Hurt Jr. and William Hurt, husband Kenneth Jaeger, and daughter Cheryl Hudson. She is survived by her daughter Claudia Travis and her husband William Delisio of Independence, MO. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Tiffani Janssen, Keena Mackie, Courtney Pointer and Tim & Mike Schnell, her great grandchildren; Haley Winters, Brayden, Taryn & Teagan Janssen, Deacon, Makenzie & Willow Schnell and Lylah and Liam Schnell as well as great, great grandchildren Hayden and Tucker Winters.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
