Betty Lou Snoddy (Wolken), 79, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022. Betty’s children, Scott and Suzanne, remained unmoved and by her side until the Lord came and took her home.
Betty was born in Jefferson City, MO, on November 16, 1942. She graduated from Helias High School. Betty had a strong faith in God and was inspired and guided by his grace until the end. She was a devoted parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church where she was an active member of the Legion of Mary; she always gave freely of her time to others in need of help, guidance, prayer, or simply a shoulder to cry on. Betty was known and admired for her loyalty and hard work. She could often be found working from dawn till dusk in her lawn mowing, weed eating and pruning until perfection had been achieved. It was impeccable. Betty was a cooking enthusiast that could create amazing dishes that kept everyone coming back for more. She had many secret recipes that weren’t always shared, but one recipe in particular was shared and ended up being published in Taste of Home magazine. Betty did not know a stranger and made friends wherever she went. Her smile and sense of humor were loved by all. Her laugh was contagious and could be heard from afar. Family meant everything to Betty, and she will be greatly missed.
Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband of 24 years, Robert (Bob) Snoddy, and her parents Hubert & Myrina Wolken. Betty had two children, Scott Goodin of Parkville, MO and Suzanne Platt (Sean) of Overland Park, KS. Betty also had four stepsons: Chris Snoddy (Brenda), Jim Snoddy (Sherry), Bob Snoddy (Stacey) all of Boonville, MO and Wayne Snoddy (Sherry) of Mesa, AZ.
Betty’s greatest joy in life was being a doting grandmother to her four grandchildren whom she adored; Grace, Charlie, Will & Caroline Platt. She also had eight step-grandchildren; Anna Kudlacz, Kayla Snoddy, Josh Snoddy, Breck Walters, Kyle Snoddy, Christa Babbitt, Teal Snoddy and Landon Snoddy that brought her joy and happiness and she loved them dearly. Betty was number three of four siblings: Ron Wolken (Charmaine), JoAnn Wilson (Bill) and Donna (Steve) Weiner.
A visitation will be held for Betty on Friday, June 3rd at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Boonville, MO from 10am to 11:30am. The rosary will be recited at 11:30am and a mass with a Christian burial to follow at noon at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Please join us back at SS Peter and Paul Church for a luncheon in the undercroft.
It is the wish of the family that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Guardian Angel Fund at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School. The fund provides tuition assistance for families experiencing hardships and unable to maintain the cost of a Catholic education.
