Beverly June Lewis nee Houx, 84, of Boonville, MO died peacefully at home Sunday, July 3, 2022. She came into the world Friday, June 10, 1938 on the kitchen table at the family farm north of Holden.
Born to Perry Lawson Houx and Garnet Miller Giltner Houx, Bev attended Holden schools and the Presbyterian Church. In childhood she met the true love of her life and future husband Charles Kay Lewis. They married on May 29, 1960. Both graduated from Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg.
After graduating with a degree in Education taught both regular school and special needs kids from the mid 1960’s until she retired in 1993. This brought her great joy and in 1989 she coached the winning softball team for the Missouri Special Olympics.
She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and active in the community. In personal life she was an avid reader who loved animals, cooking, gardening, and collecting antiques.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Kay Lewis and is survived by her niece, Beverly Kay Miller nee Lewis, nephews Thomas Clark Lewis Jr., John Wheeler Lewis and great nephews Randon Thales Miller, Charles Wheeler Lewis, Raleigh Michael Miller, and great niece Maggie Caroline Lewis.
She is buried next to her husband in Holden Cemetery in the Lewis family plot. In lieu of flowers donations to the Boonville Humane Society are recommended.
