Bobby Lee Burnett “Maple Street Raceway”, 80, of Boonville passed away Monday, June 14, 2021 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Visitation for Bob will be held at Howard Funeral Home Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. with a service beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Art Deys officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Bobby Lee Burnett was born March 11, 1941, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the son of Elmo and Gladys (Craghead) Burnett. Bob graduated from New Bloomfield Highschool in 1958. He married Anna Wolgamuth in 1963 in Jefferson City, Missouri. Bob was a truck driver for years and enjoyed all the places he was able to visit. Bob and Anna enjoyed going to cabin in Laurie where they enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and feeding the wildlife. He also enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends. He loved to watch NASCAR and Outlaw racing. Bob looked forward to listening to party line every morning, he was an avid listener and would always call in. He supported his community, and you could find him cruising around town on his golf cart with his dog Sassy. Bob was a loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother Billy Ray Burnett and sister-in-law Marilyn Burnett, and son Vincent Taylor. He is survived by his wife Anna Burnett of Boonville, Missouri, son Dennis (Carla) Taylor of Phoenix, Arizona, daughter LaFonda Schmidt of Columbia, Missouri, brother Doug (Sharon) Burnett of Hartsburg, Missouri, sister Carolyn (Nike) Thompson of Jefferson City, Missouri, grandchildren Shaun (Desiree) Smith, Cody Smith and Dr. Harrison Thomas Taylor, great grandchildren Brierelle, Ariah, James, and Kaitlyn Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Riverside Christian Church.
