David Steven White Sr, 69, of Boonville MO passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family.

David, best known to his family as Gramps, was born in San Diego CA at North Island Naval Airbase on May 3, 1952. He is survived by his father, Bill White of Boonville, wife Phyllis of Boonville, his children David Jr (Sarah) of Boonville, Billy (Alicia) of Woodbury MN, Ryan (Chloe) of Japan, Jacob (Jessica) of Boonville and one sister Susan (Mitch) Schwartz of Fairfield CA. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Sean, Tyson, Jacob, Addison and Finnegan White, who each held a special place in his heart. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Betty White, stepmother Ellen White and one sister Beth Thomas.

After spending most of his high school years in Boonville, David graduated from Van Horn High School in Independence MO in 1971. After graduation, David served 4 years in the U. S. Navy as an Electricians Mate. In 1977, David married Phyllis Thompson in Prairie Home MO where they started their family. David took a lot of pride in raising his sons and teaching them his knowledge of the electrical trade. David, known as “Peco” to his friends, loved to spend time hanging out watching the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a life-long Kansas City Chiefs fan and could often be heard from afar with his famous “Touch Down Kansas City” cheers. After retiring as a master electrician, he enjoyed spending time tinkering at Your Money’s Worth in Boonville, but his greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren. He taught them how to “grow milk”, they all know the infamous Gramps “whoo hoo”, they had fun times making flapjacks and weekly dates of watching Svengoolie as well as teaching them what is the best ringtones and how to know if one is a “friend or foe.” His love for them was special and their love for him is never ending.

A celebration of life with be planned for a later date. In leu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
