Don Stevens

March 25, 1932 ~ November 28, 2020 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Don Stevens Obituary

Don Stevens passed away at Ashley Manor Nursing Home on November 28, 2020, where he had been a resident for a year.  He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 25, 1932, the son of Gail H. Stevens and Georgia Pierson.  Don spent most of his life in Indianapolis, moved to Chicago area and then retired to Boonville, Missouri in 2000.  Don married Barbara Ann Franks on June 25, 1952. 

 

A Celebration of Life will be held in January 2021 at Howard Funeral Home in Boonville. Exact date and time will be announced at a later date.  The family is encouraging family and friends to write down a memory of Don so it can be shared with everyone.

 

In his earlier years Don served in the U.S. Merchant Marines. Don worked at Standard Brands and RCA in Indianapolis. When Don and Barbara lived in suburban Indianapolis, he was a member of the Lawrence Township Volunteer Fire Department.  In Chicago, Don worked for Admiral Corporation, The Stiffel Company and Merrill Lynch.  Don was a member of the American Mensa Society.

 

Don was a member of the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation and Jewish Community Center Association. Don’s passions were travel, biking, books, traditional music and his wife, Barbara Stevens.  The Big Muddy Music Festival is what brought the Stevens’ to Boonville. They faithfully attended the annual Big Muddy Music Festival and are members of the Friends of Historic Boonville.

 

Don is survived by his wife Barbara and daughter, Debbie Johnson and son, David Stevens.  He has two grandsons: Jeremy Johnson and Patrick Stevens and four great-grandsons: Owen Johnson, Hale Johnson, Brady Stevens and Jamison Stevens.
