Donna Wallingford Obituary

Donna Kay, better known to her grandkids as Mama G passed on Saturday evening May 19, 2018 at University Hospital in Columbia. She was with her family as the angels took her to heaven. DK had worked most of her life at a variety of jobs, but her favorite was cooking for kids at the California School District. She resigned last summer due to her health. Cooking didn’t just stop at work, she enjoyed cooking and canning at home, the evidence can be found around my waist. Weekends were made for racing for DK, whether it was watching NASCAR or watching our son Jeremiah on the dirt tracks, she was happy if he kept the rubber side down.

Family to Ma was most important whether it was snuggling with our daughters and granddaughter, Jamie, Emily and Madison watching her favorite chick flick Sweet Home Alabama or playing catch or kickball outside with our grandson Paxton. She always took time to be with them all.

DK never saw eye to eye with the military, when I served in the Navy for our country. The Navy thought they were number one but in reality…. she was. That didn’t stop her later when she proudly stood flag lines or escorted veterans as a Patriot Guard Rider or a Central Missouri Honor Flight Rider. I made the mistake of teaching my girl to fish one day, which she quickly picked up on and out fished me more times than I can count.

Together we have logged thousands of miles on our motorcycle from one mountain range to the other, she loved to ride. She learned there were no short cuts and I learned with a slap to the helmet there can too many curves, with all that riding her favorite place to ride was right here in the Ozarks at our own special cabin on Table Rock Lake. Whiskey drinks on the deck in the evening overlooking the lake, it just didn’t get any better than that. The thing I think she loved the most though, wasn’t the racing, riding, fishing or cooking it was simply sitting around the camp fire on our homestead surrounded by her family and friends. My girl was responsible for turning our place into a home filled with love and friendship. Some say 43 years together was a long time, I beg to differ Ma…you were supposed to be my forever.

Donna Kay with the help of some very special angels that night went to be with her; dad, Donald (Don) Fisher and brother, Michael (Mike) Fisher, along with her grandparents and some friends. DK will be missed by her family, our daughters, Jamie L. Wallingford of Prairie Home, MO., Emily R. Wallingford of Boonville, MO., our son, Jeremiah D. Wallingford of Prairie Home, MO., granddaughter, Madison Bishop, grandson, Paxton Hostetler. Also surviving is her mother, Carol Ann (Ellerman) Fisher of St. Louis, MO., brothers, Tracy Fisher, Brian Fisher and their families of St. Louis, MO. and sister, JoAnn Fisher and family of St. Louis, MO., and many nieces and nephews.

But most of all DK will be deeply missed by her husband, best friend, your forever. I don’t know any words that an express my feelings that you chose me to spend your life with. While it could be debatable as to where I might go, I hope that someday we can finish our forever together. Until then I’ll save your chair and drink by the campfire, Love Always…Pa, David M. Wallingford

Donations can be made with your time and heart. DK would want you to give it to your family and friends, because time is to short here to be wasting and worrying about the small stuff.

Our family would like to give special thanks to the doctors, staff and angels (nurses) of Columbia University Hospital MICU unit of the 5th floor. You all made my girl very comfortable in her last days here with us… Thank You.
