Dorothy “Dot” Lorene Wessing Kempf, 80, of Boonville passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024, surrounded by her family at Boone Hospital Center.

Visitation for Dorothy will be held Monday, February 5, 2024, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Boonville from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with recitation of the rosary beginning at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Father Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Clear Creek.

Dorothy Lorene Kempf was born July 2, 1943, the daughter of William Henry and Mary Pauline (Reuter) Wessing. She graduated from Pilot Grove High School in 1961. Dorothy married Joseph “Joe Lee” Kempf on May 11, 1963, in Clear Creek. Dorothy was a very determined and strong-willed lady; she worked on the farm beside Joe Lee and was a three-time cancer survivor. She loved bowling, spending time in the sun, Cardinal baseball, fresh produce from the garden. She also liked to sew, she made clothes for herself and her daughter’s wedding dresses, you could find her doing crafts and watching her favorite game show, Cash Cab.

Above all she loved her girls, her sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She adored them all. She also enjoyed spending time with her many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary, husband, Joe Lee, sister, Alice, brother-in-law, Ed and son in law, Brad Davis. She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Ann Davis, Renee Lynn (Justin) Vandiver and Christa Leigh (Johnny) Fewell, brother-in-law, Bob Kraus, sisters, Virginia (Earl) Luebbering and Jeanette Berg and brother, Harold Wessing. She will dearly missed by her grandchildren, Jacob (Summer) Davis, Grant (Tori) Davis, Alyssa (Garrett) Dyer, Austin (Paige) Vandiver, Carson Fewell, Cara Fewell, great-grandchildren, Allistor Davis, Ava Dyer, Sutton Dyer, Elliotte Vandiver, and another baby girl due in April. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions are suggested to SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church or St. John’s Cemetery- Clear Creek.
