Earl Schrader Obituary

Earl D. Schrader, 86, of Boonville passed away Monday evening January 18, 2021 ay University Hospital in Columbia, MO.

 

Graveside services for Dean will be 10:30 A.M.  Friday, January 22 at Walnut Grove Cemetery with Rev, David Mackey officiating. Anyone attending is asked to practice social distancing guidelines.

 

Earl Dean Schrader was born October 15, 1934 the son of Charles and Hattie Schrader in rural Prairie Home, MO. After graduating from Prairie Home High School, he eventually left the farm spending three years enlisted in the U.S Navy and two years reserve. In the 1960’s him and his brother Gus opened and ran an International Truck Dealership in Boonville. He met his wife Thelma around that time and were married July 9, 1960. After the truck dealership closed, he worked for a while selling insurance for National Life and Accident, then going to work selling hardwood Lumber for Ace, Log and Lumber Company. Eventually opening his own lumber business on 87 Highway south of Boonville called Dean’s Wood and Lumber. As well as having his Realtor’s license selling with Quinlan Agency and developing Lake View Estates west of Boonville.

 

Dean was always an avid outdoorsman, loving his fishing, hunting and his bird dogs. In addition to his love for the outdoors, Dean was an avid musician from childhood and always played for bands. For 40 years he played locally for weddings, anniversary celebrations and club gigs. He was a huge St. Louis Cardinal fan and was one of the last founding members of the Missouri River Valley Steam Engine Association.

 

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hattie, brother, Gus, sister, Audrey Norris and wife, Thelma of 60 years that just passed away November 5, 2020. He is survived by his sons, Steve, and Scott (Suzanne) Shrader of Boonville and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He along with that since of humor will be missed by all of us.
