Earlene Niebruegge Obituary

Earlene D. Niebruegge, 95, of Lone Elm formerly of St. Louis, passed away Friday evening May 6, 2022, at the Neighborhoods in Columbia, Mo.

Visitation for Earlene will be 10 to 11 A.M. Monday May 9 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lone Elm, with funeral services to follow at 11 A.M. with Pastor Paul Weisenborn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Earlene Dorothy Niebruegge was born December 5, 1926, in Lone Elm the daughter of William and Katie (Wieland) Niebruegge. She was baptized on December 26, 1926. She graduated from Zion Lutheran School in 1941, Bunceton High School in 1945 and Central Missouri College in Warrensburg, MO., in 1951 with a degree in Elementary Education. Earlene taught at Cooper County Rural one room schools for five years. In those days, a high school graduate could teach while still attending college. After college graduation she taught in the Lutheran School System in St. Louis for 39 years with 33 years at Our Redeemer Lutheran-Overland. She mostly taught first grade which was the age she especially loved.

During these years she also sang in several choirs, taught Sunday School and later belonged to the Sunshine Club for seniors at Our Redeemer, upon retirement she continued to live in her home in St. Louis County. She enjoyed working outside with her flowers, shrubs and garden. After Living in St. Louis for over 65 years, she moved back to Cooper County to be near her family and to live at Hartmann Village in Boonville.

Earlene was preceded in death by her parents, William and Katie, brothers, Herbert and William Niebruegge, nephew, David Lenz and great-nephew Andrew Lenz. She is survived by her sister, Elsie Lenz, sister-in-law, Betty Niebruegge, nieces and nephews, Shirley Lenz, Mike (Debbie) Lenz, James (Pam) Lenz, Kathy (Greg) Tebbenkamp, Dennis (Jean) Lenz, Roger Niebruegge, Nancy (Mike) Hayes. Also surviving are her great nieces and nephews, Jeremy (Leah) Lenz, Adam (Tiffany) Lenz, Jon (Kirby) Lenz, Curt (Lindsay) Lenz, Katie (Garett) Richards, Scott Robinson, Rachel Lenz, and Aaron Tebbenkamp and numerous great- great nieces and nephews.
