Edna J. Tavenner, 96, of Pilot Grove, MO died Friday, September 17, 2021, at Katy Manor Nursing Home in Pilot Grove.
Edna was born December 16, 1924, at the ‘homeplace’ east of Pilot Grove, MO, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Muessig Stoecklein. She attended St. Joseph’s grade school and Pilot Grove School as a child.
Edna married Robert H. Tavenner, Sr. January 24, 1948, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove. Edna cared for her parents and in-laws until their death. She worked at the Selwyn shoe factory and Artex in Boonville until her retirement in 1995. In retirement, she was an avid quilter and babysat her grand and great-grandchildren as well as several other Pilot Grove kiddos. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Joseph Alter Sodality and Daughters of Isabella. She volunteered for years at St. Joseph Catholic school assisting children learning to read.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Robert ‘Bob’ Tavenner, Jr. and William ‘Bill’ Tavenner, and her siblings (Frank, Belle, Bernadine, Charlie, Fred, Marie, Roy, Ray, and Rosaline).
Edna is survived by her daughter-in-law Kathleen Tavenner Meisenheimer of Pilot Grove and grandchildren Sandra (Scott) Reynolds of Pilot Grove, Rhonda (Andy) Stoecklein of Eldon, MO, Laura (Aaron) Franklin of Columbia, MO, Robert ‘Bobby’ (Michelle) Tavenner, III of Pilot Grove, Amy Tavenner-Schimmel (Ryan) of Grayslake, IL and Ryan (Jeanie) Tavenner of Buffalo Grove, IL; her great grandchildren (Scottie Reynolds, Whitney Turpin, Cody Franklin, Cole Franklin, Kailey Franklin, Dalton Stoecklein, Marysa Stoecklein, Cloey Tavenner, Kiley Tavenner, Caden Tavenner, Everett Schimmel, Curtis Schimmel, Easton Tavenner and Chelsea Tavenner); great-great grandchildren (Adeline Turpin, Brynlee Reynolds and two arriving in 2022); sister-in-law Isabel Stoecklein; two step children (Wanda and Carol); and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church Tuesday, September 21, 2021, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. and Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Father Derek Hooper officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
