Libby was born June 12, 1925 on a farm in Central Missouri. Libby married Dorsey (after just 4 dates) June 30, 1952. She held several jobs before having children, the most noteworthy being a secretary at the Fort Knox Research Lab. Once their sons were born, she did not work outside the home. She did babysit a few lucky children, including some of her own great-grandchildren. She was an exceptional cook who provided a full lunch for her husband and sons during the week while they worked on the farm. She served as treasurer and Sunday School teacher at the Prairie Home 1st Baptist Church for 25 years. Dorsey and Libby lived on the family farm south of Boonville until she entered the nursing home in 2013. Dorsey visited her almost every day until he passed away in 2019. She was a beloved member of the community and positively impacted many lives with her loving nature.
She is survived by 2 sons, Robert (Kathy) Alpers of Prairie Home, grandchildren, Shanna (Stacy) Henderson (great grandchildren, Austin and Dillon), Nathan (Meagan) Alpers (great grandchildren, Paige, Ethan and Kaylee) and Heather Wilson; son Mark Alpers of Prairie Home, step grandson Logan (Brooklyn) Twenter; daughter-in-law Jenny Alpers of Boonville, granddaughters Jennifer (Scott) Alpers (great grandchildren, Jordyn and Brady), Ashley (Billy) Sarver and (great grandsons Wil & Liam).
