Elsie May (Niebruegge) Lenz, 93, of Lone Elm passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia surrounded by her family.
Visitation for Elsie will be held at Howard Funeral Home Friday, June 3, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Elsie May Lenz was born May 16, 1929, in Lone Elm, the daughter of William and Katherine (Wieland) Niebruegge. Elsie was baptized June 16, 1929, and confirmed April 18, 1943, at Zion Lutheran Church. She was a life-long active member of the church and LWML Ladies Aid. Elsie attended Zion Lutheran School and graduated from Bunceton High School in 1947 where she participated in basketball and softball. She married the love of her life Eldon Lenz August 29, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Clarks Fork, Missouri. Elsie was always helping Eldon on the farm with various tasks and was sure to always have food ready for him and the crew. She loved to cook and was known for her cakes, there was a fresh one every day. Elsie enjoyed volunteering at Zion Lutheran School and sharing her love of crocheting, sewing, and quilting with others. She also loved to garden and would can and freeze produce so she would have plenty to cook. Elsie had an incredible memory of people, places, and events and was very interested in family history. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and mother-in-law, and will be dearly missed.
Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Eldon Lenz, brothers Herbert and William “Leroy” Niebruegge, sister Earlene Niebruegge, son David Lenz, and grandson Andrew Lenz. She is survived by daughter in law Shirley Lenz, daughter Kathy (Greg) Tebbenkamp, sons Michael (Deborah) Lenz, James (Pam) Lenz, and Dennis (Jean Shields) Lenz, grandchildren Jeremy (Leah) Lenz, Adam (Tiffany) Lenz, Jon (Kerby) Lenz, Rachel Lenz, Curt (Lindsay) Lenz, Katie (Garett) Richards, Hollee Tebbenkamp, Kit Tebbenkamp, and Aaron Tebbenkamp. She also leaves behind great grandchildren Addie, Easton, Bristol, and Rhett Lenz, Brea Zuber, Ava Cammack, Aiden Gray, Julie Matheny, Quincy and Emmett Richards, and Haleigh Thomas.
