Fred John Wilson, 79, of Blackwater passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the
University Hospital in Columbia. Surrounded by his family, close friends, and after being visited
by his beloved fur buddy.
Per Fred’s request no services will be held.
Fred John Wilson was born May 28, 1943, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Frank and Mildred
(Munson) Wilson. Fred was born and raised in Kalamazoo then moved to Missouri in 1955. He
attended and graduated from Boonville High School in 1961. He married the love of his life
Mary Jo Gerard July 15, 1967, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Fred and Mary Jo were
known for their produce especially watermelons and pumpkins.
Through their business they met lots of new people and some lifelong friends. Fred
enjoyed spending time on the farm and with family. He also loved to fish on the Missouri River
and hunting on his farm. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to garden, fish and hunt.
Fred’s fun, loving and caring personality will be forever missed.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Jo and sister Donna Hudson. He is survived
by his daughter Jennifer (Kevin) Roth of Blackwater, sister Nancy Leimkuehler, grandchildren
Megan (Dan) Kiser and Jacob (Hannah) Roth and great granddaughter Addison Roth. He also
leaves behind his beloved fur buddy Cooper.
