Gerald McGuire Obituary

Gerald Lee “Jerry” McGuire, 75, of Boonville passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at University Hospital in Columbia, MO with his two children by his side.

Visitation for Jerry will be from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 14 at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Martin’s Cemetery in Martinsville.

Gerald Lee McGuire was born August 11, 1945 in Boonville, MO., the son of Raymond McGuire and Earline (Wesselman) McGuire. Gerry graduated Pilot Grove High School in 1963. He married Mary (Knipp) in July of 1967. They went on to have two children, Jennifer (Brian) Force and Mike (Lindsay) McGuire, both of Boonville.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Earline, brothers David, Dennis, and Greg, and sister Ellen Caldwell. He is survived by his wife, two children, brother Duane (Debbie) McGuire, brother-in-law Mancel Caldwell, sisters Gayle Lenger and Marlene Cottrell, and his sister-in-law Ginny Sparks. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Hunter Force, Sydney, Maggie, and Dylan McGuire.

Jerry loved St. Louis Cardinals baseball and watching NASCAR. He was an over the road truck driver for many years and, over the course of his career, he travelled to 48 states and 3 provinces in Canada. Gerry was a walking atlas and could give directions to any place at any time. After he retired, he drove for White Knight Coaches. While with the company, he drove many of the MIZZOU athletic teams to their events. He loved visiting with the players and coaches. Jerry enjoyed his farm, piddling around on the tractor, and driving his Polaris General around town. You could find him 6 days a week with his coffee shop buddies, discussing all the world’s problems at the Route B Cafe. He was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 1061. He loved his family, especially spoiling his grandchildren. Before Jerry’s passing, he spent the last 3 years taking care of his loving wife, Mary, who suffers with Alzheimer’s.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Knights of Columbus Council 1061.
