Jack Eugene Patterson, 76, of rural Rocheport, Missouri passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023, at his home.
Per Jack’s request he will be cremated, a celebration of life will be held at Howard Funeral Home Friday September 29, 2023, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
Jack Eugene Patterson was born July 29, 1947, in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Andrew Jackson and Nela Grace (Peavler) Patterson. Jack attended Kirksville and Novinger Schools. He attended Mexico Career Center and received a certificate in Mechanics. Jack worked at several dealerships in Kirksville, then worked for Orscheln Brothers Truck Line, Husted Trucking in Baring, Mo, Pepsi bottling company in Columbia for 26 years retiring in April 2007. He then worked and drove for Clark Transportation in Columbia, MO and Aschenbrenner Trucking in Fremont, IA until the time of his death. Jack first married Caroline Sullivan in March 1972, to this union was born a daughter Tracie Lynn Choate of Yelm, WA. They divorced in October 1977, Jack then married Carol McFarland February 1979. A son was born, John Patterson of rural Rocheport, MO. Jack loved all his family and spending time as much time with them as possible. He also loved to mow his grass, camping, NASCAR, and occasionally Chiefs football.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents Andrew “Jack” and Nela Grace Patterson, sisters Betty Deacon and Mary Todd, brother Billy Patterson, infant brother Robert Lee, father-in-law Johnny McFarland Jr., brothers-in-law David McFarland, Rod Deacon, and Garry Millhouse, numerous aunts and uncles and his beloved dogs Sniggles and Betsy Jean. He is survived by his wife Carol Patterson of Rocheport, daughter Tracie (Stan) Choate of Yelm, WA, son John Patterson of Rocheport, sister Helen Millhouse of Novinger, MO, brother Andy (Nannette) Patterson of Houston, TX, sister-in-law Shella McFarland of Rocheport, brother-in-law Odell Todd of Jamestown, TN, mother-in-law Carolyn McFarland of Boonville. He also leaves behind grandchildren Austin and Logan Choate, grand dogs Sissy and Buddy and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephews, many cousins and friends.
