James was born on February 24, 1951, in Fayette, Missouri, to Margaret (J.C.) and James Johnson, Sr. On October 18, 1969, he married Letitia Shields and had three children. James was a traveling grocery salesman for Shyrack Givens Grocery Company for 30+ years. When Shyrack closed its doors, James went to work as a grocery stocker at Walmart, where he only retired a few months before his passing. He enjoyed putting puzzles together, collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, going to the steam engine show and festivals, sitting outside waving at everyone that drove by, but, most importantly, spending all the time he could with his family.
James is survived by his three children, William (Emily) Johnson of Gardner, Kansas; Barbara Johnson of Boonville; and Bethany (Charles) Matthews of Boonville; eight grandchildren, Kenan (Kaylea), Treye, Kyla, and Dalton Johnson, and Waylon Hein all of Boonville; and Grace and Diane Johnson of Gardner, Kansas; two great grandchildren, Marley Johnson, and Braxton Murray from Boonville; his brother Randy (Penny) Miller of Liberty, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret (J.C.) and James Johnson Sr.; sisters Shirley Studley, Sue Johnson, and twins; his brother Steve Miller and his wife Letitia Johnson.
