Janice Kay Mullins, age 71, of New Franklin, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024. She was born on July 4, 1953, in Steedman, Missouri, the daughter of Edd and Hazel Ellen (Smith) Walker.
She grew up in Steedman, Missouri, then moved and graduated from Hallsville High School. She met Jim Mullins when he worked at the local Derby Gas Station in Columbia. She had a ’54 Ford that used more oil than gas and she had to stop by every day so he could add oil to her car. He realized she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen and they were married on November 6, 1970 in Millersburg, Missouri and were married 47 years at the time of his passing in 2018.
Janice worked at Mugs Up in Columbia for years. She was also employed as a housekeeper at Columbia Regional Hospital, which later became the University of Missouri Hospital.
She was a sweet loving lady who enjoyed sewing, reading and going to garage sales. She loved to play bingo and listen to her husband play music all over the state. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Janice is survived by her daughters: Sonya Mullins of Columbia, Heidi Renfrow and husband Tim of Boonville, Kerri Jackson and her husband James, Cindy Mullins of Columbia, Christina Walker of Marshall; grandchildren: Courtney, Derrik, Karli, Kadi, Tori, Derek, Jimmie, Kaylie, Cameron; 8 great grandchildren; brothers: Jimmy Walker and wife Linda, Dennis Walker and wife Rose; many other nieces, nephews and loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim Mullins; siblings Steve Walker, Eddie Walker, Sharon Walker, Carol Hardy, Faye Shelnutt.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the Eagles Lodge of Boonville, Post 1022, 708 11th Street, Boonville, MO 65233.
