Jon Riley Obituary

Jon A. Riley, 79, of Boonville passed away Saturday evening February 24, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

Visitation for Jon will be on Saturday March 9 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Howard Funeral Home. Celebration of life will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tim Fairley officiating along with a Masonic Service.

Jon Allen Riley was born October 24, 1944, in Boonville, MO., the son of David L. Riley and Dorothy L. Hall Riley.  Jon graduated from Boonville High School.  He married Karen Ballard on February 20, 1982, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Billingsville.  Jon was Vice President of Hall and Riley Quarries and Paving, which was in business from 1939 to 2000 where they provided numerous loads of rock and asphalt around Cooper County and the rest of the state. He was a member of the Cooper Lodge #36 in Boonville for over 56 years and a member of the Ararat Shrine club in Kansas City.  Jon loved and looked forward to their annual St. Maarten’s vacation trip with the family.  Jon and Karen lived at the Lake of the Ozarks for years where they loved their many wonderful friends, although Jon would humorously claim some of them weren’t his friends, you know who you are.  Jon had a great sense of humor and would often use it on those around him.  If you ever joined him for coffee at the Bobber restaurant you know what we mean.  Jon loved to go boat riding, golfing, and fishing when he got the chance. He loved his sports, especially the Missouri Tigers and the Kansas City Chiefs.  He also loved his oldies music which could never be too loud.

Jon is preceded in death by his parents, David and Dorothy, his stepmother Viola Riley and son, David Cosner. He is survived by his wife, Karen, son, Shawn (Kim) Riley of Wichita, KS., daughters, Dee Ann (Hugh) Riley of Chicago, IL., and Kim Cosner of Boonville, MO., and brother, Jerry (Bonnie) Riley of Boonville, MO. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Daniel (Samantha) Cary, Joey (Alivia) Cary, Riley Blank, Alyson Blank, Rachel Riley, Cooper Riley, McKenzie Cosner, great grandchildren Liam and Leeland Ramirez, and a precious great-granddaughter, Madison Cary.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hometown Health Care and Hospice of Fayette, MO.
