Larry “Chunky” Wayne Leathers, 80, of Boonville passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 7, 2022, at his home.
Visitation for Chunky will be at Howard Funeral Home Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, February 11, 2022, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Father Derek Hooper officiating. Burial will follow in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
Larry Wayne Leathers was born May 4, 1941, the son of Robert and Mary Eva (Vollrath) Leathers. Chunky graduated from New Franklin High School. He married the love of his life Rosemary Goode February 5, 1966, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Chunky worked in the auto parts industry all his life, he was with NAPA for over 40 years. He also enjoyed going to his son’s shop Leather’s Auto to help Gary out when he needed it. Chunky was a sports fan, he loved anything sports but especially enjoyed the Kansas City Chiefs (even when they lost) and the MU Tigers. He was a simple man and liked doing little things such as tinkering with four wheelers or mowers and keeping his truck spotless. Chunky was a lifelong member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He was a family man, he loved to spend time with his family at the Lake of the Ozarks. Chunky’s dream was to own a Harley Davidson Motorcycle.
Chunky was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Rosemary of the home, son Gary (Mary) Leathers of Boonville, daughter Christy (Jeremy) Gettings of Buford, GA, brother Bobby Leathers of Boonville, grandchildren Melissa (Jacob) Harvey, Jessica (Ryan) Brown, Madison Getting and one great grandchild on the way.
