M Haller Obituary

Jo Haller, 84, of Boonville passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 at home with her family at her side.

Arrangements are pending at this time.

M. Jo Haller was born on 5/2/36 in Lisbon, MO to Bill and Dorothy Hayes Bishop.  She attended school in New Franklin at the school her father helped build.  She married Edward S. Haller on 12/26/53 in Boonville, MO.  She served three terms on the Boonville City council and was passionate about her town.  She enjoyed sports of all kinds – particularly those her grandkids and great grandkids were involved in and she rarely missed a game.  Her life centered around her family, and being one of ten siblings she and Ed hosted many celebrations and homecomings for the family for years, keeping them close.    She loved to cook and was famous for her cinnamon rolls (the cookie jar was never empty either)!  She was the matriarch of the family, and when sister Etta died was great support for Etta’s daughters, Vicki and Dawn.

Jo worked in Boonville for many years at the Hotel Frederick, Holts Café, the Boonville Daily News and for Skeets Potter Trucking.  She retired in 1998 from Shelter Insurance after 28 years of service and dedicated the next six years caring for a friend who had cancer.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Dorothy, sister Etta Guthrie and brothers William and Don.  She is survived by husband Edward of 67 years and daughter Valerie June (Danny) Taft.  Also surviving are brothers Lee (Barb), Bob (Sandy), and Jim (Marge); sisters Rosa Markolf, Wilma (Wayne) Baslee,  and Kay Meler; grandchildren Crystal (Doug) Wilson and Seth Taft; great grandchildren Grant, Reagan, Riley, and Tucker Wilson and Max Taft; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Jo was dynamic, strong-willed and known for her tenacity, sense of humor, impeccable integrity and generosity.  There was nothing she would not do for those she loved. Rest In Peace Jo, thank you for touching so many lives.  You will be missed.

The family would like to thank Hometown Homecare for their excellent care, and the many caregivers and friends.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the grandchildren’s school S.S. Peter and Paul Educational Foundation, S. S. Peter and Paul Cemetery Fund or the charity of your choice
