Marie Janette Pohlman was born in Florence, MO., July 27, 1939, the daughter of John Franklin and Ruby Gander. She graduated from Boonville High School. Janette was active with Cooper County 4-H as a cake decorating leader for over 20 years and organized the Cooper County Fair Queen contest for many years. Wilbur and Janette farmed and ran Pohlman’s Cakes and Catering for 30 years, then Pohlman’s Create-a-Cake in Columbia for 28 years which was relocated to her home near Wooldridge in the later years. A stroke in September of 2021 forced retirement from her lifelong passion. Janette was a long-time member and board member of ICES (International Cake Exploration Society). She is survived by daughter, Alicia (Ron) Russell of Wisconsin, son, Timothy (Debbie) Pohlman of Columbia, MO., and daughter, Janella (Jim) Spencer of Aurora, MO.
