Martha Jean (Roy) Jewett, 90, of Boonville passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2021, at Riverdell Care Center in Boonville.
Visitation for Martha will be 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 14, 2022, at the First Christian Church in Boonville, with funeral service following at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Martha was born September 26, 1931, in Kirksville, MO, the daughter of Charles and Bernice (Webb) Roy. She attended Missouri Teacher’s College in Kirksville where she received her teaching degree in music education. Martha married Gill Jewett in 1952. After Gill’s army service, she moved to the family farm near Gooches Mill where they raised three children Jeff, Vicki and Jean. Throughout her time in Boonville, Martha was active in the community. She was an accomplished bridge player, active in the church and PEO. She was also a member of a sewing club and gourmet club. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, she will be dearly missed.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gill Jewett, sister Nancy Mosebach and son-in-law, Mike Magyar. She is survived by her three children, Jeff (Nancy) Jewett of Houston, Texas; Vicki Jewett of Lawrence, Kansas, and Jean Magyar of Boonville and sister Elizabeth (Larry) Peterman. Martha and Gill have four grandchildren, Valerie (J.C.) Richter of Houston, Texas; Jon (Liz) Jewett of Houston, Texas, Austin Magyar of Columbia, Missouri and Bailey Magyar of Kansas City, Missouri. They also have four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church of Boonville.
