Mary Ellen (Stayton) Fahrendorf

Mary Ellen Fahrendorf, 87, of Boonville, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, at Ashley Manor Healthcare. She was born on March 13, 1937, in Malta Bend, Missouri, the daughter of Lewis and Nettie Mae (Hibdon) Stayton.

Mary Ellen graduated from Bunceton High School. She married Joseph Fahrendorf on May 25, 1957, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Boonville. They were married 64 years at the time of his passing. 

She and Joseph led a quiet life, raising their own food and were known for their large meticulous gardens and fruit trees. They enjoyed Dancing on weekends. Mary Ellen was also an avid reader and loved keeping her house clean. Most of all they loved visiting with family.

 She was a Nurse’s Aide for 10 years at St. Joseph Hospital and also at Cooper County Memorial Hospital for 35 years, where she retired from.

Mary Ellen is survived by her sister Linda and her husband Paul Thurman of Columbia, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph, and brother Rue Stayton.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin’s Cemetery.
