Mary Ellen was born on October 25, 1926, in Boonville, the daughter of Adolph Sr and Ellen (Stephens) Hilden. She grew up on the family farm in rural Boonville, attended Billingsville School and graduated from Saint Peter & Paul High School.
After marrying Sam Mische on October 27, 1946, they made their home in Fairway Kansas. Mary Ellen was a legal secretary for the Watson, Sess, Marshall and Enggas Law Firm for many years. After retiring, she and Sam traveled together and spent many hours fishing. Mary Ellen took great pride in her doll collection, Sam making furniture and she sewing clothes for them. She also enjoyed growing Big Boy tomatoes and beautiful roses.
Preceding her in death were her beloved Sam in 2001, siblings Adolph Jr (Julia) Hilden; John (Mary Ann) Hilden and Herman Hilden. Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her nieces and caregivers, Joyce (Larry) Schuster and Christy (Stuart) Clark. In addition, she leaves her sister-in-law, Phyllis Hilden, numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.
In honor of the loving and compassionate care Mary Ellen received at Riverdell, the family is asking memorials to be made to the Riverdell Activity Fund.
