Paul then married Anna Mae Bonen on November 25, 1950 in Boonville, Missouri.  Paul was drafted into the US Army in December 1950.  He was discharged in March,1953.  In his current hometown of New Franklin, he was active in the United Methodist Church serving as President of the administrative board for 6 years.  He was a charter member of the New Franklin Lions Club and served 9 years on the New Franklin School Board.  He served as a leader for the Cherry Grove 4-H Club from 1962 until 1991.  He was on the MFA board and Coop for many years as well as the Howard Electric Cooperative.  He drove a school bus for the school district for many years as well.  He served with the Boonville and Fayette American Legion.
