Retired Lieutenant Colonel Rebecca Leah Hayes Hall peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 8th, 2021. Becky is preceded in death by her father and Mother, Richard and Bernice Hayes as well as her niece, Mona Twenter. She is survived by her son, Nicholas Hall, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, grandchildren, Aubrey and Hayden, and her sisters Gretchen Hayes Twenter (JD), Claudia Hayes Neidhart (Fred) and Elaine Hayes as well as a host of family to include cousins, nieces, nephews, and some of the best friends a person can collect over their lifetime.
Becky was born on April 4th, 19… she wouldn’t want me to tell you, in Boonville, MO. She graduated from Saints Peter and Paul High School and obtained her degree in nursing from St. Mary’s College and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Central Methodist College. Becky joined the military in 1971 as a nurse in the US Army Reserves. She continued her service through Desert Storm in 1992 and retired in 2004.
She played many roles throughout her life, but she was perhaps most impactful as Mom and Sassy. She was passionate about gardening, cooking, coffee in the morning, wine at night, crime dramas, a well-set table and time with family and friends. Becky was a collector, of her favorite things and favorite people. At her core she was a nurse, she made a career of it, she learned how from the Nuns at St. Mary’s, she went on to teach others even when not on duty and had the highest standards. Retirement did not slow her, when COVID became a problem, she promoted logic and raised her hand to volunteer to distribute the vaccine. Her living legacy will be her grandkids. She loved watching the grands swim, compete, grow, and learn. She lived a full life, one that any of us would be happy and content with. She will be missed and never forgotten.
A visitation will be held Saturday, August 14th from 2:00PM to 3:00 P.M. at Howard Funeral Home with a short celebration of life at 3:00 P.M. Inurnment will follow in the S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests you make a donation in her name to the Wounded Warrior Project, which can be found at www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.
