Robert Stoecklein Obituary

Robert Leo “Bob” Stoecklein, 90 years old, died Sunday, January 26, 2025. Bob was born July 18, 1934, near Pilot Grove, Missouri, to Otto and Josephine (Felten) Stoecklein. After graduating from Pilot Grove High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served two years of active duty and two years reserve duty.

He married Doris Marie Imhoff on November 13, 1954, at St. Martin’s Church in Pilot Grove. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past year.

In 1956, he began work with the National Bank of Boonville as a bookkeeper. After a 40-year career, he retired as President and C.E.O. of the local Bank of America. He was a lifetime member of S.S. Peter and Paul Parish. Bob was active in many civic organizations including the Jaycees, Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, Cooper County Port Authority, City Housing Authority, Habitat for Humanity, and others.

Bob was an avid coin collector. He loved cars, especially his prized 1968 Ford Mustang. He enjoyed fishing and working on his farm. Nothing was better than a fish fry with family and friends – of course followed by ice cream! During retirement, Bob and Doris traveled extensively, including a two-month Alaskan adventure, a trip to the Holy Land, and explorations of many European countries.

Bob is survived by his wife Doris; his children Rob (Mary) Stoecklein of Weldon Spring, MO; Thomas Stoecklein of New York, NY; Susan (John) Unnerstall of St. Charles, MO. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Joe (Jen) Stoecklein of Ballwin, MO; Anna Stoecklein of London, England; and Maggie Unnerstall of New York, NY. Bob has three great grandchildren: Jack, Camryn, and Benjamin Stoecklein. He is also survived by his sister Mamie Niederhelm (Boonville) and his brother Kenneth Stoecklein (Blue Springs), and was preceded in death by his parents, and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

The funeral service Mass is Friday, January 31, at 11 a.m. at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 322 Seventh Street in Boonville, with visitation preceding at 10 a.m. and interment following at the S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Boonville.
