Obituary

Robert “Bud” Earl Mersey, 97, of Boonville passed away Friday, September 15, 2023 at Ashley Manor Care Center.

Visitation for Bud will be held Monday, September 18, 2023 at Howard Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Clarks Fork Trinity Lutheran Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Peter Kurowski officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Robert Earl Mersey was born May 20, 1926 the son of Robert and Emelie (Brokamp) Mersey. A 1944 graduate of Boonville High School, Bud deployed with the US Army and was discharged in 1956. After returning he married Jo Ann Carl September 12, 1956. Bud was able to go on the Central Missouri Honor Flight and enjoyed every minute of it. He was a farmer for over 70 years. After he quit farming full time he worked at the car wash in Boonville. Bud was a lifetime member of the Trinity Clarks Fork Lutheran Church holding many officer positions over the years as well as a member and officers in Trinity Men’s Club and Aid Association for Lutherans. Bud was also a member of Bunceton Mutal Insurance Board for over 40 years and Bunceton School Board for many years. Mr. Bud and Jenny were well known to many in the Boonville area as they traveled about in their handicap van to choose where they would eat or go for entertainment that day or evening. Mr. Bud was your go-to when you needed something fixed; he always came up with an innovative solution. Bud was loved by everyone he met and will be dearly missed.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Emelie Mersey, wife Jo Ann Mersey, and sister Dorothy Mersey (Donald Ray) Kaiser, He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Lynn Mersey,  nieces and nephews Donna (Randy) Vollmer, Jeffrey (Pam Kraft)  Kaiser, Delores “Sandy” (David) Griffith, Justin (Belinda) Kaiser, Denise (Eddie) Miles, John Kaiser, Deborah (Mike) Schoen and their children and grandchildren. He also leaves behind his farming family Patty Dick (widow of Richard Dick) and their children Dana (Guy) Medaris, Deanne Dick (Bud’s Godchild), Jason (Annie) Dick and their grandchildren Deacon, Evelyn, Rowen, Reed, and Virgil Medaris, and George and Emil Dick.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Clarks Fork Lutheran Church, David Barton School or Bunceton School.
