Ronald "Ron" Lee Struchtemeyer

Ron Struchtemeyer, 82, of Roswell, GA and formerly of Boonville, MO, passed away in his sleep on Monday, Dec 13, 2021, at A G Rhodes nursing home in Marietta, GA.

 Funeral services for Ron will be held Friday, Dec 17, at 11:00 am at First Christian Church in Boonville with the Rev. Nick Larsen officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Ronald Lee Struchtemeyer was born on April 7, 1939, in Boonville, MO, the son of Orville Henry Struchtemeyer and Lucille Jennings Struchtemeyer. Ron attended the New Franklin Public schools and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO.

Ron began his career with the Wagoner Accounting firm in Sedalia, MO. In 1968, he began working for the state of Missouri as an examiner of Savings and Loans Associations across the state. He eventually moved into a management position and lived in Jefferson City. Ron retired in 1996 after almost 28 years with the state of Missouri.

Ron married Betty Glaubitz on May 5, 1994, in Jefferson City. They then moved to Boonville after his retirement in 1996.

Ron was stricken with polio in 1952 at the age of 13. He survived it but lost complete use of his left arm - not good news for a talented left-handed baseball and basketball player. However, he taught himself to play with his right arm only and played competitively in Junior High. Over the years, he became very ingenious in figuring out ways to do most everything in life with one arm.

Ron enjoyed life to the nth degree and had many, many friends in both work and play. In the early 1980's, he decided to get himself into physical shape, and did he ever! He lost from 402 lbs. to 162 lbs. in 15 months by doing his own diet and walking routine. He was an avid walker the rest of his life. He also enjoyed reading fiction books, working, and fishing with his father on the farm, and riding horses. He was an entertaining storyteller, and his laugh was infectious. He was also known for his love of driving Rivieras and Cadillacs.

Ron was a wonderful caretaker for his immediate family, assisting with his sister, mother, father, and wife over the years. He always put family first.

Ron is survived by his brother, Leon (Arlene) Struchtemeyer of Roswell, GA and his nephews, Derek (Darby) Struchtemeyer (Logan and Sydney) and Travis (Amanda) Struchtemeyer (Caleb and Katelyn) of Canton, GA. Ron is also survived by Betty's six children, Mark (Vorn) Glaubitz of Alexandria, LA, Reed (Dorothy) Glaubitz of Quitman, AR, Renee (Danny) Farris of New Bloomfield, MO, Phillip (Sherol) Glaubitz of New Bloomfield, MO, Larry (Jeanna) Glaubitz of Columbia, MO, and James (Frank) Glaubitz-Watts of Kansas City, MO., and their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his sister Carol.
