Ruby Irene (Chappell) Maier McNew

Ruby Irene Maier McNew, 97, of Boonville passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Visitation for Ruby will be at Howard Funeral Home Tuesday, November 16, 2021, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jordan Shikles officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Ruby Irene Maier McNew was born November 2, 1924, the daughter of Gilbert and Pearl (Kirschman) Chappell. Ruby graduated from Prairie Home High School in 1943. She married Harold Maier Sr. August 29, 1942, in this unity they had eight beautiful children. She married Karl McNew Sr. February 10, 1990. Ruby had many jobs throughout her life but her favorite job was working for the Boonville School District as a cook then later as a foster grandma. Everyone knew her as Grandma Ruby and that was her favorite title. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Boonville and enjoyed participating in all the events. Ruby was a great cook, enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, she also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds. Ruby’s favorite thing was family get togethers, she had created a big, beautiful family that she loved more than anything, she will be so dearly missed.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold Maier Sr., husband Karl McNew, brother Lewis Chappell and his wife Dolly, sons Mike and Floyd Maier, daughter-in-law Opal, stepchildren Karl McNew Jr., Ronda Bubolz, and Marlin McNew. She is survived by her children Harold Maier Jr. of Boonville, Lee (Dorothy) Maier of Leroy, Kansas, Donnie (Kathy) Maier of Newton, Texas, Elaine (David) Simmons of Boonville, Glenda Curnutte of Boonville, and Bobby (Sheila) Maier of Centertown, daughter in laws Paula and Linda Maier. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hannah Cole Primary School.
