S. Lee Bishop, age 86, of Boonville, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at his home with his loving wife of 56 years. He was born on March 10, 1938, in New Franklin, Missouri, the son of William Amos and Dorothy Irene (Hayes) Bishop.
Lee graduated from New Franklin High School, in the Class of 1956. He was employed at Kempf Chevrolet in Fayette, Missouri and then moved to San Diego, California where he worked for Ryan Aircraft until he was drafted into the United States Army. He served his country in the Army until 1963. After leaving the service, he was employed at McDonnell Douglas, later named Boeing Aircraft Industries, for 33 years until his retirement in 1999.
Lee was a soft spoken, caring and loving man. He was a wonderful man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, but most of all loved spending time with his family.
Lee is survived by his wife Barbara of Boonville; siblings: Rosa Markolf of Carpinteria, CA, Wilma Baslee of Sedalia, Kay Meler of New Franklin, Bob Bishop (Sandy) of Rainier, OR, and Jim Bishop (Margie) of Madison; brother-in-law Ed Haller of Columbia; many nieces, nephews and other loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Dorothy Bishop; siblings: Etta Guthrie, LeRoy Bishop, Billy don Bishop, Jo Haller; brothers-in-law: Wayne Baslee, Foster Markolf, Jim Meler, and Bill Guthrie.
Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Howard Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place following the service at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville.
