Samma Brengarth Obituary

Samma “Sammie” Gray (Odom) Brengarth, 94, of Boonville passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove.

Private family services will be held.

Samma Gray Brengarth was born October 21, 1926 in the oil boom town of Three Sands, Oklahoma, the daughter of Samuel Cochran Odom and Nellie Gray (Givens) Odom. Samma married Francis “Poncho” Brengarth on September 27, 1948. Francis and Samma were lifelong members of the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Samma attended nursing school and received a diploma RN and attended the Nurses Cadet Core. Nursing and caring for others was her life. After Samma retired from her nursing career she enjoyed the mornings she was able to sleep in. She also enjoyed tending to her roses and participating in the sewing club she was apart of. Samma loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved watching them grow up and attending their events when she was able. Samma was loved and will be dearly missed.

Samma is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Nellie Odom, and brother Jamie Odom. She is survived by her husband Francis Brengarth, sons Johnny (Molly Holst) Brengarth of Wooldridge, Francis “Frankie” D. Brengarth of Columbia, Steve (Jane) Brengarth of Boonville, James “Jimmy” (Cindy) Brengarth of Columbia, and Lisa (Matt) Waterman of Columbia , brother Denny Odom of Kansas City, grandchildren Holly Brengarth, Jennifer (Paemon) Moghaddas, Rhett (Lauren) Brengarth, Megan (John) Bray, Seth Brengarth, Brit ( Erin) Brengarth, Sarah Brengarth, Emily Brengarth, Wesley Waterman and Will Waterman and seven great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Children’s Mercy Hospital for Pediatric Cancer Patients.
