Shirley Marie (Coplin) Maier

Shirley Marie Maier, 79, of Boonville passed away surrounded by her family Thursday April 22, 2021 at Riverdell Care Center.

Visitation for Shirley will be at Howard Funeral Home Friday, April 30, 2021 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Charles Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Shirley Marie Maier was born March 13, 1942 the daughter of Esco and Laura (Medley) Coplin. Shirley married Arthur Maier Jr. on May 19, 1966 in Bonne Terre. He preceded her in death December 2009. 

Shirley spent the majority of her career working for Nordyne in Boonville, retiring after 25+ years of service. 

Shirley was an avid bowler for many years. She bowled for the Nordyne and Family Shoe Store bowling leagues. Throughout the years, she had received many plaques and trophies for her achievements. Shirley enjoyed retail therapy of the thrifty kind, she loved to go to garage sales and antique stores. Shirley enjoyed socializing with friends over coffee at the local diners. Shirley had four canine companions that she adored very much and spoiled. She was very devoted to her family, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow up.  She was loved by family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Esco and Laura Coplin, husband Arthur and infant brother Lawrence Coplin, sisters Seline Britton and Jeneva Pyatt. She is survived by her sons John (Rebecca) Maier of Rocheport and Mark (Kathleen) Maier of Boonville, brothers Douglas and William Coplin, sisters Bonnie Hollingshead and Connie Mercer, and grandchildren Logan Welch, Collin, Kayla, Joshua, and Ruby Maier.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Boonville Animal Shelter or Shep’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary.
