Shirley was born September 1, 1939, to Frank Wilson and Ella Mae Harris Burkhead. She attended Boonville Schools, graduating high school in 1957. After graduation, Shirley attended the Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri.
She retired from the Boonville R-1 School District after over 35 years of service. She missed her passion of being with children and assumed the role of volunteering as a Foster Grandparent at Hannah Cole Elementary School for many years. She loved every minute of volunteering and giving back to children who just needed a little extra attention. Shirley was also a member of the Ladies Auxillary at Cooper County Memorial Hospital until its closure. Some of her favorite times were playing golf and bridge with local ladies and, of course, attending any and all sporting events of her grandchildren.
Shirley was a devoted mother first and foremost, raising three children. Her children were the focus of her life. She always encouraged them in their various interests and endeavors and was alongside embracing every moment she could with them.
Shirley will be known for her devotion to her family. She embraced every moment she had with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Shirley always looked forward to family gatherings and she loved to cook. She was an expert at preparing delicious meals for her family and friends. She was truly a master in the kitchen!
Shirley was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church in Boonville, Missouri and loved by many present members. Faith was very important to her.
