Steven (Steve) W. Gilson, 60, of Boonville passed away Friday morning May 27, 2022, at his home with his wife Joyce at his side.
Visitation for Steve will be Thursday June 2nd at Howard Funeral Home from 10 to 11 A.M. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11 A.M. with Pastor Tim Fairley officiating. Iterment will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Steven Wayne Gilson was born in Boonville, MO., on June 21, 1961, the son of Ira Elmer Gilson and Mary Margaret McShane Gilson. He married Joyce Walther on June 15, 1990, at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Boonville, MO. Steve worked for the Isle of Capri Casino for 10 years, City of Boonville for 18 years, Miltenberger Oil for five years, but his favorite job was helping at the local Dairy Queen that his parents owned an operated. Steve loved bald eagles and flew his flag high and proud, he loved animals especially his kitty cats. He was chairman of the board at Village of Windsor Place and was adamant to make things better for the village. You could find Steve cruising in his black Chevrolet pickup that was his baby. It was always shiny and clean. He never met a stranger and could talk to anyone.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Mary, brother-in-laws, William and Carl Walther. He is survived by his wife Joyce of the home, fur babies, Maggie, Kayla, Annie, Lacey and Molly, sisters, Colleen Starr (Xavier Clavell) of Girona, Spain, Meribeth Myers of Columbia, MO., and aunt, Mrs. Helen “Peachie” Vinson. He was also loved by his extended family, Ernie (Sharon) Walther, Rosemary (Larry) Wilmsmeyer, Darlene (Earl) Reuter, Joan Walther, and numerous nieces and nephews.
