Terry Gronemeier Obituary

Terry Gene Gronemeier, age 71 of Boonville, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Boone Hospital Center with his family by his side. The son of Herman Eugene and Ina Geraldine (McCollum) Gronemeier, he was born on March 20, 1954, in Milan, Missouri.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025, with a Celebration of Terry’s Life at 11:00 a.m. at Howard-Millard Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Boonseboro Cemetery.

Since this will be a Celebration of his life and not a funeral, dress is casual. The family asks that you all wear a white shirt and blue jeans in Terry's honor, because that was what Terry wanted!!

Memorials are suggested to The American Heart Association.

Terry, building his first soap box derby car, fueled a 53-year career in the automotive industry. He started as a mechanic, developing into a Service/Parts Manager, Store Manager and in retirement as a Parts Salesman. During this time span he received numerous certifications and awards. Terry enjoyed helping people with their projects. The more challenging the better. If he did not immediately know how to fix something, he would research the issue at hand until he figured out a way to fix it.

Terry graduated from Hickman High School in 1972, where was a wrestler in sports. He received a wrestling scholarship to Truman State. He also attended Columbia College. He married Dorothy “Dottie” Weathers on October 30, 2014, in Boonville, Missouri.

As a result of his enjoyment in doing research, he created volumes of family genealogy records on the Weathers, McCollum, and Banner families. Terry was the type of person who had to stay busy, fixing things, working on improvements to his and Dottie’s properties or repairing/rebuilding automobiles. Terry enjoyed impromptu day trips with his wife Dottie and their walks together. Terry rekindled an interest in collecting guitars and developing his ability to play them.

Terry valued his lifelong friendships with Phil Murray, Allen Ricker, and Brent Brown and his cousins Dan, Danny, and Hartley. These men shared a brotherly bond. Being a Chicago Cubs fan, Terry made a memorable trip to Chicago last year with his cousin Dan to finally sit at Wrigley Field to watch a game.

While he will be dearly missed by family and friends, we find comfort in knowing that he always lived life on his terms.

He is survived by his wife Dottie  Weathers; his mother;  two sisters, Jerrie Ann Gronemeier (Jan Heller) and Ellie Jones; sister-in-law, Anita “Suzy” Sherrill (Dean); brother in law Mark Weathers (Sandra); nieces and nephews: Shannon Crowley, Erica Lowe (Nick) Samantha Trenhaile (Reid), Emily Kurzweil (Jason), Harrison Weathers, Ethan Weathers; great nieces and nephews: Taylor and Elayna Einspahr, Aydan Campbell, Rylie and Lillie Trenhaile.
