Viola Mae Nelms, 87, of Boonville passed away Friday evening June 25, 2021, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO.
Visitation for Viola will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday evening June 28 at Howard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 29 at Howard Funeral Home with Pastor Joshua Ketelsen officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Viola Mae Nelms was born September 11, 1933, in Stover, MO., the daughter of Henry Louis Young and Gertrude Hartman Young. She married Robert Lee Nelms on July 3, 1959, in Liberty, MO. Viola enjoyed collecting angels, word and crossword puzzles and traveling. She loved rocking babies and taking care of them, she thought of it as her favorite past time. Viola drank a beer in the evenings to keep her young. She loved her family and spoiling her grandchildren.
Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee, parents, Henry and Gertrude, brothers, Elroy, Orvie and Leonard Young and a grandson, James Michael Jobe. She is survived by her son, Robbie (Denise) Nelms of Galveston, TX., daughters, Christy (Donny) Jobe of New Franklin, MO., and Linda (J.R.) Jasper of Boonville, MO. She also leaves behind her sisters, Doreen Porter and Shirley Bush of Stover, MO., grandchildren, Joshua (Krystal) Nelms, Jordan (Lucas) Harlan, Austin (Deiandra) Sanders, Angela Stockwell, Tracey (Scott) Hays and Jake Jobe, 16 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
