Warren Morse Obituary

Warren Morse, our Dad, was born in Harrisburg, Illinois, February 28, 1927 to Mildred and John Morse. He grew up with one living brother, Tom Morse. Dad was about to be drafted in February of 1945 so he enlisted in the navy and proudly served in the Philippines as a Seabee. When he came back to southern Illinois after the war he met his future bride, Marilyn Lichliter, one night while she was in her pajamas mailing a letter at the post office. He was smitten and married her in September 1948.  His little brother was the responsible party who introduced them.

Warren and Marilyn had 2 children—Mike was born in January of 1951 and Barbara was born in September of 1953. Warren was a road construction supervisor in the early years of the marriage and he had to move wherever the interstate and levees were being constructed. By the time he and Marilyn settled in Boonville in 1958 they had lived in several towns across Kansas and Missouri. After moving to Boonville, Warren commuted to work across the state so their children wouldn’t have to move anymore while they were growing up.
Marilyn and Warren were married for 68 years until Marilyn became ill in 2017 and later passed away. Until December of 2017 they were both living in a wonderful assisted living home called Aberdeen Village in Olathe, Kansas. Warren, our Dad, lived very happily at Aberdeen for 2 years until he broke his hip this January. He just wasn’t strong enough at almost 93 to make it back to where he had been physically. He died on Saturday, February 8, after having spent a weekend with his son Mike, grandson Steven and his daughter Barb and her husband Derrick. He leaves his son Dr. Mike Morse and his wife Bettye, Mike’s son Steven and his wife Sarah and their 2 children, his daughter Barb and her husband Derrick and their daughters Lauren and her husband Kevin and four children and Elizabeth and her husband Matt with their 2 children. He was Poppo to 3 grands and 8 great grands. Dad was a quiet, kind man who will be remembered lovingly by his family and also his Aberdeen family and the staff at Aberdeen Village. He’ll be buried in Boonville but his memorial service will be held for his special friends and staff at Aberdeen Village in Olathe.
