Wilber L. Brizendine, 82, of Boonville passed away Wednesday April 26, 2023, at Katy Manor Nursing Home in Pilot Grove.
Visitation for Wilber will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday May 2 at Howard Funeral Home, Funeral services will follow at the visitation. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery in Jamestown.
Wilber Lee Brizendine was born August 7, 1940, the son of Leonard James Brizendine and Katherine Louise Strickfaden Brizendine. He married Karen Marlene Stewart on October 23, 1966, in California, MO. Wilber served in the National Guard from October 1962 through October 1968. Wilber could fix anything; he worked for Singer and fixed/maintained many sewing machines around the Boonville area and beyond. After working for many years at various different jobs (Craig’s Dairy, selling insurance, Midwest Auto, Singer, and Wal-Mart), Wilber retired. When he worked at Wal-Mart, he spent many years assembling anything from bicycles, BBQ grills and many other items. For years, he was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He loved to play cards, and watching wrestling. Wilber never met a stranger and loved to tell stories. He enjoyed the Prairie Home Fair and the Big Muddy Folk Festival. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Wilber was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard James and Katherine Louise, his wife, Karen, son-in-law, Mark Mahan, siblings, Ralph Brizendine, Frank Brizendine, Loretta Reeves and Ruby Freese. He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Mahan of Kansas City, MO., Son, David (Dawn) Brizendine of Colorado Springs, CO., brothers; Bobby of Bunceton, MO., James and Kenny Brizendine of Boonville, MO., sisters, Helen Elliott of Boonville, MO., and Dorothy Maddex of Bunceton, MO. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Jordan Brizendine, Caitlyn (Randy Stockstill) Mahan, Aubrey (Ray) Brown, Kasey (Shawn) Payton and four great-grandchildren.
